WATER-BASED EPOXY COATING FOR WALL AND FLOOR SURFACES

Strongcoat WD is a two-pack solvent free, water-based epoxy coating that provides wall and floor surfaces with a seamless, hygienic and cosmetically attractive finish.

Usage

Strongcoat WD is applied by brush, roller or airless spray (minimum two coats) and has good durability toward pedestrian and vehicular traffic. It is also resistant to many of the chemicals commonly found in an industrial environment (consult Technical for further details). It
can be supplied in a variety of colours (consult our Sales Department for details).
Slip resistant finishes can be produced for very demanding situations.

Application

SURFACE PREPARATION
The surface must be clean, dry (less than 75% RH measured by hygrometer) and free from dust, laitance, oils, paints or other forms of contamination. Grit blasting can be used to remove laitance and surface contamination (see DCP Guide to Surface Preparation for further details). For treatment of surfaces containing expansion joints consult our Technical Department.

MIXING
Taking care to ensure that the bottom and sides are thoroughly scraped, transfer the entire contents of the Strongcoat WD Hardener and Strongcoat WD Resin container into a mixing bucket and, using a jiffy-type mixer attached to a slow-running electric drill, mix for approximately two minutes.

Never mix Strongcoat WD by hand as this could lead to areas of uncured material.

APPLICATION
Once mixing is complete, transfer the Strongcoat WD to a roller tray and, using a medium-pile simulated sheepskin roller, apply it evenly over the surface.

WORKING TIME
Strongcoat WD has a working time of approximately 20 minutes at 20°C.

Never leave the mixed Strongcoat WD kit to stand for any length of time prior to application as this will considerably shorten its working time.

CLEANING
Once mixing and application are complete, tools can be cleaned with cold water.

CURING TIME
At 20°C Strongcoat WD should be allowed to cure for 24 hours prior to opening it to pedestrian traffic. At the same temperature, Strongcoat WD should be allowed to cure for approximately seven days prior to opening it to vehicular traffic or exposing it to chemical contamination (consult our Technical Department for details of curing times at other temperatures).

OVERCOATING
Further coats of Strongcoat WD must be applied no later than 24 hours at 20°C after the preceding coat has cured.
Additionally, Strongcoat WD must not be contaminated prior to plying the further coat.

SLIP RESISTANT FINISHES
Apply a coat of Strongcoat Primer to the surface and allow it to cure for the specified time (see the Strongcoat Primer Data Sheet for further details). Apply a further coat of Strongcoat.
Primer and, whilst this is still wet, completely blind it with the desired grade of aggregate. Once cured vacuum off the excess aggregate and then seal with a minimum of 1 coat of Strongcoat WD. Two coats of Strongcoat WD may be required on coarser textures.
Important: The coverage rate of Strongcoat WD will be considerably reduced when using it to seal aggregates.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Strongcoat WD should not be applied at temperatures less than 10°C.
